Food for Thought

We started off the year learning to read the nutritional information on food and drink  products.I was really surprised to learn that most soft drinks have over 10 teaspoons of sugar in each bottle. To be healthy we need to choose to eat the healthy products often and the unhealthy treats seldom.

Coco pops- not an everyday breakfast

After out Heart Foundation programme where we learned about the nutritional information on breakfast cereals, I will not be eating coco pops every day, instead as a treat once a week. I would rather eat weetbix which has far less sugar.                                     Tuku

Back to school in 2020

Carousel image
I was really excited to be back at school in 2020. Although not all the students were back, many who were keen were back. I was a bit nervous about my new class and teacher, but after a few games on the field, we felt happy. I am looking forward to having a great year in 2020.

Do you eat your veggies?

A few months ago we planted lettuce in our garden and it was time to take them
out to put it in our sandwiches. After picking a few crispy, fresh lettuce leaves we
washed them carefully to get the sand off. We then added it to our sandwiches with mayo
and tomato. We then took a bite and wow , it tasted like a Mc Chicken burger.

Motivated to write

Writing is not our favourite activity in class.  Imagine if a student who hated writing or doing the e-AsTTle assessment in class at the beginning of the year,  transformed into the best writer in the class at the end of the year - wont that be nice?  Watch our movie and see how this transformation happened!

Tongan language week

We celebrated Tongan Language week in the first week of September. After a week long of
learning to read numbers in Tongan, we had a competition to see which non Tongan speaking student could win the counting competition. Well done to Joseph, from room 11 who was
outstanding. The celebration finished off with a beautiful display of song, dress and dance.

Empty Lunch Box Day

The volunteer readers were happy to help with
 the lunch making.

Mandarines and apples had their place in the healthy lunch box.

It was awesome to come back to class with a  lunchbox filled with healthy rolls, fruit, a museli bar
 and milk.

Mr Hendricks, our principal was happy to
promote  tomatoes to the students. There were lots of takers
.
